A Bit Leftfield

Hello!

A cheap and cheerfully cynical article from me, Jay Edwards, the gaffer of incQbait - about our small boilie range.

I get asked on occasion by people on the bank as to why our range is small. Well, first and foremost we are a very small company, and essentially its just myself running EVERYTHING. This is from the top to the bottom of list, from researching possible ingredients, the ordering of ingredients, mixing it , rolling,  boiliing, blah blah. This is right through to sorting, labelling and posting to either team or customers. Even designs, for logos, stickers and labels...its busy but I love it. Honest guv!

I've made sure that the range despite being small, works. In a nutshell it has to or its a pointless task. I've also made sure we dont follow suit of other companies, I've said this to people many times, and also in previous articles, but, its the out and out truth of the matter in my opinion, what I deem to be flavour fads among the fraternity, the latest boilie flavour that you have to have or you just aren't 'current'. Well, something myself and my best mate have always said, and to coin a phrase, ' if you aren't in fashion, you'll never be out of fashion', and thats the way I see our bait. We'll always be outside of the box. So much so, I'm ignorant to products out there. I keep hearing 'prawn this and that' right now, well, I've been using prawn in its form of belachan ingredients in our bait since i started making them, and from a very well known source, its deadly, and if people are just getting prawn into their heads now, I guess that makes me part captain of the boat :) I'm only aware of certain bait products if one of the guys on the team mentions something - but they are aware I wont be influenced. Every bait I make has to have had purpose and not be a secondary guess flavour of 'the big bait firms' latest release. Yes we have a squid flavour, like other companies, but I'd never heard of baits such as this example 'Nash bait's scopex squid' until long after I'd made and used my first squid flavoured pop up. Such is my blind eye to the world around me. But the truth remains - I'm just not watching what others do nor trying to re-create their products - its pointless.

Our Squid inQ and Live-X boilies have been tested to what I can only describe as high hell, by different people on different waters, I'm talking from runs waters, canals and syndicates and just general day ticket waters....its been constant. Then and only then were they deemed good enough for release - to sell to the world. Its the same with our pop ups, built for purpose and only using flavours in an old skool way and how I see  what carp actually would be attracted to, its not flavoured for the hell of just having the flavour or to keep up with the world of carp bait.  One of our pop ups even includes a more natural state of essences found bank side, some, maybe not so natural, and can only be described as artificial flavouring, which is what a lot of essences are, as it would cost too much to garner the flavours in a natural state - for anyone.

For those who follow our endeavours, our boilie range will be increasing in the next year as we move forward. As a hint, we currently have both the new ranges on test with possible pop ups in the works. Its been a while coming to increase the range, as its about looking ahead as a company, how much volume can we make - we dont keep anything on site, the boilies are freshly made, racked, dried and sent out asap. See  how it works via our delivery page: here.  Any real left overs are actually for my fishing :)  the advantage also of this, it helps keep the ingredients running as freshly as possible, its all in short bursts, we run low, we order more, and so on. Its as fresh as we can make it - plus one of the new baits is going to be a complete freezer bait. Its a very bespoke bait, a little special in its own right, I think it contains 3 of what I would call regular boilie ingredients, then after that, forget it - it goes very leftfield...so much so, since testing begain in February this year, the fish seem to love it more and more, maybe its just the choice in the menu for them, its not 'another fish meal' nor is it a 'milk protein' type food source.

The test phase for the new bait will go on for a while yet within the team, we have more team members now so it gets tested more often for catch consistencies. However we will keep social posts updated when we feel it necessary as sometimes things can fall into place sooner than we expect.

until then, enjoy the upcoming autumn big feed -
